This is the second print of a 4 piece series about growth. This shows a year old golden eagle in the harsh conditions of a Canadian winter. Sometimes eagles have to feed on carrion (already dead meat) to survive. I used an ink wash to create the abstract-looking pine trees in the background, which is my favourite part about the piece. Using a liquid called gum arabic, I made the snowflakes by splashing the gum onto the stone which blocks all ink from printing in those areas.
