Falconry Equipment Study

This drawing was one of a two piece series that I completed as a final project in one of my drawing courses at the University of Guelph. I borrowed real falconry equipment from Wild Ontario, an education centre that provides care for non-releasable birds of prey. I was able to draw this piece with the equipment arranged right in front of me. The second piece in the series is "Leah and Apollo", a chalk pastel drawing of my wife, Leah, holding an American Kestrel. The pieces together were meant to convey the connection that humans and wildlife can have together - when we truly care about our natural world around us, we can do incredible things for our world!
