The word Ayasha is a Native word that means "little one". The drawing was inspired by a real golden eagle - also named Ayasha, who is a captive bird at the Mountsberg Raptor Centre in Ontario. Golden eagles are such majestic and powerful birds, capable of bringing down prey as large as deer and mountain goats. I've done several golden eagle drawings in the past, especially portraits, and I've found I keep coming back to this idea as I'm continuously captured and recaptured by their beauty. Ayasha holds the record for the largest drawing I've done to date as well as the most time spent on a single drawing - 32 hours.
