ABOUT THE ARTIST

I was born on January 8th, 1990 and raised in Waterloo, Ontario. I have always loved creating art from a very early age and I went through several phases of subject matter in my art as a child. I started drawing whales and dinosaurs and other animals in school. Now I have a passion for art involving wildlife and nature, specializing in birds as well as in landscapes, still life, and portraits. Art for me is about self-expression, craftsmanship, purpose, and concept. Art is meaningful. Nature is so important to me; I find it to be a realm of peace and tranquility. Expressing my love of wildlife and nature in my art is something that I have done since I was a child and will always do. I think that realism is the perfect way to capture nature's beauty, especially in the organisms that live within it, who are a part of it, just as we are. Drawing wildlife helps me to relate to nature and be a part of it more.
I also enjoy photography, swimming, longboarding, snowboarding, skimboarding, hiking, and bird watching. I am a recent graduate with an honours BA. in the Studio Art program at the University of Guelph. I live in Waterloo, Ontario, with my gorgeous wife, Leah. I work full time at WMB Church as Director of Youth Ministry. It is my dream to one day continue my career as a full time artist.
